Server UpgradeOver the weekend we carried out a major server upgrade to support the growing number of people using plotaroute.com. Since its launch on 1 January 2015, usage of the site has grown steadily every month and now, almost 18 months later, plotaroute.com is used by over 100,000 people every month in 140 countries across the world. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of our users for their ongoing support, as it is only with this support that we can continue to invest in and develop the site. We look forward to bringing you more news of further developments over the coming months.

A superb way of plotting my rides.  The best site I have used.  Thank-you

John, I have tried all the plotting services and I find yours the most comprehensive and easiest to use. Superb.

That's spectacular news! I keep promoting the site and my own routes driving traffic to the site linked from my Twitter and Facebook accounts.

As an Infrastructure Platform Services Architect in my day job, I'm curious what kind of kit and technologies powers Plot-a-Route. Can you break down some of the pieces?

Thanks for bringing such a great capabilty to so many of us!

Thanks for supporting the site David.   Although we now have over 100,000 users every month, we are still a relatively small site compared to many, so our infrastructure is not that exciting yet!  We use Windows Server and SQL Server for our server-side solution and have excellent hosting through a UK company called UKFast.  We don't currently use a CDN, so that is something that we will probably set up in the near future, as well as migrating to https.

    John
