    Hi,

The timer as it stands can help predict the finishing time for a day's hike.

It's not so useful if the journey spans multiple days.

A more useful figure would be the total journey time so as to equally divide the journey into manageable segments, accounting for variations in terrain.

    Thank you

    mike

Thanks for that feedback Mike. Did you know that you can add Rest Stops onto your route? You may find this helpful when it comes to planning multi-day routes.

Hi, I'm new to this forum although I've been using plotaroute for years.   I'm searching for an answer to the same question really.  I run ultramathons and while planning for an upcoming 116mile challenge I also noticed that trying to use the 'timer' to plan start and finish times the timer doesn't give you the actual duration to run the route, rather it gives you the (clock) time that you will finish - even if that is next day.  Although this is helpful when planning rest stops, coastal tides, etc. it would also be very helpful if the duration of the run could be displayed at the same time.  Surely this is a simple script to add and display?

As I understand it, Viserando are no longer developing Plotaroute, so I doubt whether this feature will ever be looked at.

I have used Quo (Mapyx) when I used a Windows machine. This had a very useful route card generator. If you set the start time at midnight (00:00), it had the times at various points on the journey in, if I recall, 'dd:hh:mm:ss'. It's free to download, although any useful maps you'll have to purchase. Maybe it's worth checking out.

    Hi John,

    Sorry for the late reply.

I understand your wish to be able to display both the time of day and the accumulated time.
I will share this with the devs to consider for future developments.

@Mike: Thanks for providing a possible alternative.
I keep a Requested Features list up to date with all the ideas I see on the forum, and hope some will get picked up by the dev team.
Right now, their main focus is to work on several ongoing issues.

    Kind regards,
    Julien
