Thank you Julien!
Hi Mark,
Thanks for your feedback.
I have just tested this, and a route downloaded on its own and in a bulk download does indeed have different names, because the route ID is added to the bulk download to make sure that the filename is unique.
I'll add the option to keep the original names to the Requested Features list I update the devs about.
Best regards,
Julien
Hi Plotaroute.
Having recently curated/updated/tidied my 300ish planned and completed routes, as a subscribing Plotaroute member I wanted to do a bulk download of GPX files. After the first batch were processed I was disappointed to note that the original route names had been truncated in order for the plotaroute reference number -- of no use to me at all -- to be appended.
For example, one gpx file originally called Oxenhope Conduit 9.9m Circular Nov 16th 2025 was, after bulk download, renamed as (something like) Oxenhope Conduit 9.9m Circular N -- 3162965 .
Since my detailed original route names are intended to reflect a diary of my hiking activities, could you please provide a tweak that offers users the option to save the original file names when doing a bulk download? Thanks very much indeed for your attention in this matter.
Mark
I just confirmed that it's working correctly now. Thanks for the quick fix.
That should be working OK now Michael.
We'll look into the FIT download issue and get that fixed - I think we may have affected it when we did the other changes.
I did gpx first and fit second. Earlier today I tried both clicking the X and cancel with no joy.
I just tried a gpx bulk download and that seems to work okay.
Maybe just a fit problem?
I also tried bulk downloading 10 files, FIT format .... stuck here.
Aborted by clicking the X. Re-tried GPX, worked OK
I performed a bulk download of the gpx files and the resulting zip contained all of the routes. I attempted to bulk download the fit versions and ran into a major problem. The download gets stuck on "PROCESSING SELECTED ROUTES".
Troubleshooting included: 1) closing and restarting my browser (Opera), 2) using a different browser (Chrome), 3) signing off, restarting browser, signing in again then trying to download, and 4) downloading a different selection of routes.
None of the troubleshooting techniques worked and I can no longer perform any bulk download.
The route ID is appended to the route name to make sure that the filename is unqiue.
But given that the files are within a zip file, is there any reason to truncate the Route Name?
