Interesting, semi-understood!
I think we both agree that screenshots speak a thousand words, and now, a significant "Base 64 string of text characters" :)
Hope you find a suitable method, they really can help with helping people ...
Cheers,

Hi Mark,
We've had to introduce a limit on the size of forum posts, as the large sizes casued by pasted images was casusing technical problems. When you copy and paste an image it converts it to a Base 64 string of text characters, which is a very inefficient way to display an image, as the number of characters can be huge. When we looked into this, we found one forum post that was 9 milllion characters long! You can imagine what sort of problems that causes. So, to protect other more important core features of the site, we introduced this size limit until we can develop a better way for people to share images.
When helping out on the forum, I have often taken a screen shot, cropped and copy/pasted it directly into a post. I am mindful of size and often limt the image size to a max 800W.
In a recent post, I kept getting an error message about excessive size.
MAXIMUM POST SIZE EXCEEDED - AVOID LARGE IMAGES UNLESS ADDED AS LINKS
I think I had to get down to 300 or so before I could post
