    Totally agree with previous posters!

Community spirit torn up and no real development of plotaroute! I think the purchase of plotaroute was probably done as a click bait encourage plotaroute community members to transfer to a poor and second rate site. How bizarre is that?

    Hi Steve,

    Apologies for the late reply.

As I look after user support for Plotaroute, there is one point I can comment on:
"However, I did try to edit a ride/walk. I find 'edit the original route', but it's now all in French."
This was indeed a bug that I reported to our devs, and it was fixed last week.

I understand that your concerns go beyond this specific issue and have passed your comments and feedback on to management.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts.
    Kind regards,
    Julien

My plot a route premium membership is up for renewal again. I use PR premium almost weekly to create cycling routes and have always made them public for others to use, I am not an active forum user anymore since the acquisition as a year ago I did try Visorando and didn't enjoy the experience before. So here I am one year later ready to give Visorando a go again. I linked my accounts ages ago.

So I go into the Visorando website and straight away its all about "walks" .

The homepage is "Free walks library, route planner & outdoor GPS", all my routes are under the "My Walks" menu option, then I see "All my walks. Not a good start since I don't walk!

NOTE, all that text above was from June 2025 (scroll down, you can see it). I mean, changing some words on the front web page must be hard eh?

However, I did try to edit a ride "walk" . I find "edit the original route" but it's now all in French.

I'm wondering, what aspect of Plot a Route HAVE you incorporated into Visorando in the past 12 months? If you haven't even changed the word "walk" on the front page, I'm thinking you've done very little.

This is like a broken promises forum for 2 years. I ahve no idea why you bought plot a route and then just stopped all development. Perhaps you could just give it back to the long distance bikepacking community to maintain themselves?

I haven't even checked the renewal fee. I simply use the old plot a route website, make my routes and leave. I've lost all sense of community to this forum.

Has anyone found a better value-for-money cycling planning tool yet? I'm ready to switch if there's recommendations.

I'm with Mike on this. Plotaroute is BY FAR superior to Visorando in every way. If losing features like custom directions etc is the result, I will not renew or move.

If you do away with Plotaroute, there is no way I will move to Visorando. There are many other routing platforms which are better - but none of them is as good as Plotaroute.

    Hi Steve, Hi Mark,

Thanks a lot for your detailed and honest feedback — we really appreciate it.

You're right that Visorando was originally built around walking, which is why you still see terms like “walk” across the platform. That said, the iOS and Android apps have already been updated with more neutral wording to better reflect a broader range of outdoor activities, and we’re continuing to bring the website in line with that.

The integration of Plotaroute is very much in progress. Our goal is to let users like you access the familiar Plotaroute route planner directly within Visorando, while also benefiting from the additional tools and features we offer.

We're also working on making the app more cycling-friendly, including improving bike routing and avoiding paths where cycling is not permitted.

@Mark - Thanks for the information regarding the maximum post size for images — we’ll look into it.

So I try to edit a ride "walk" . I find "edit track" but I can't understand at all how to edit a route, and I certainly can't see a way to select that I want the route optimised for cycling (ie don't send me down a footpath with no bike access).

I'm wondering, what aspect of Plot a Route HAVE you incorporated into Visorando so far? If you haven't even changed the word "walk" on the front page, I'm thinking you've done very little.

So in the last 3 years I spent $25, $26 and $27 each year (I assume USD, as it doesn't say).

All I can say is, at least it hasn't gone up. I will renew, but honestly, there is zero reason to switch to Visorando that I can see and to be honest, without Plot a Route development continuing, you're falling behind my alternatives.

Please do correct me and tell me that you actively encourage cyclists to use Visorando?????

    Steve

    Toni,

And to add .... before the aquisition, PR was developing a true moblile app, similar to Visorando, Komoot etc. It was in the earlystages of beta testing, and to be honest, was not what I hoped for.

Maybe this will be the best of both worlds .....

    Fabien & Arnaud,

I believe that it's vital to have the user experience the same map in the mobile app as was used to create the route in the desktop application (or the equivalent mobile app, in PR's case). This was not done in the above mentioned PR beta mobile app.

As a cyclist, I am of course referring to the Cycle map, with this colouration:

I have not played with Visorando, yet, but I do hope this methodology is implemented.

    Mark

ps, I originally posted a ~ 400 x 400 image, and got the message Maximum post size exceeded - avoid large images unless added as links. It's really frustrating not to be able to add a simple screen grab, especially when trying to help other users. Sometimes it let's me, sometimes not .....

    Hi Toni,

We acquired Plotaroute for several reasons: its advanced features, its strong community, and its presence in the UK and internationally. We see Plotaroute and Visorando as complementary, one excelling in desktop route planning, the other offering a robust mobile experience on the ground.

Our goal is not to abandon Plotaroute, but rather to explore how the best features from each platform can enhance the overall experience for all users. Our main development efforts are focused on Visorando, where we aim to gradually incorporate the best ideas from both platforms. As always, user feedback will be central to how we move forward.
