Good news for the future!
Thanks for sharing
Dear Plotaroute Community,
Thank you for your continued support during this transition. We’ve read and truly appreciate the reactions to our 2025 announcement, and we’re grateful for the thoughts shared by many of you. We understand that some of the changes we mentioned have raised concerns, so we’d like to take this opportunity to clarify our plans moving forward.
Here’s what we want to highlight:
We truly believe that open communication is essential, and we are committed to providing you with regular updates. While we understand that this change can be difficult, we are confident that the future holds many exciting opportunities for both Plotaroute and Visorando. Rest assured, we are here to support you as we move forward together.
Once again, thank you for all your feedback.

Hello Julien/admin/dev
Any answer to my post of 15/03?
Thanks
Cheers
Roy
Hi Julien,
Having read this thread, I'm currently of the same mind as Luis earlier: "Just so that I'm clear - as a premium Plotaroute subscriber you are suggesting that I give you ideas for improvement that I'll never see unless I become a Visorando subscriber, as they will only be implemented going forward in the other product, but that I could of course cease being a Plotaroute subscriber when the annual renewal is due and just buy a membership of the other product, which does not have the functionality that Plotaroute offers? How does this even make any sense?" (Luis Caso)
I use Plotaroute extensively as a web utility to plan continental-scale off-road cycle routes. From what I can see of Visorando's plotting functionality at https://www.visorando.com/en/index.php?component=rando&task=newCircuitV2&idRandoTemp=18541e12fe7f3f52c86742d7870e3029 it is very inferior to what is available in Plotaroute now.
Can you confirm if Plotaroute's functionality will be ported to Visorando?
Further, if I chose to continue using Plotaroute can you clarify the below:
"But we do understand that users may not want to use Visorando at all, even if we implement the Plotaroute engine. In this case, we wanted to be upfront and say that using Plotaroute as is will still be possible, but with no further development."
I understand that if this is your case, sharing new feature ideas might not make any sense."
What does "no further development" mean? - If the plotting engine (as opposed to eg the community functions) is going to be developed to support Visorando, it would seem to make sense that changes to that are also reflected in Plotaroute too... no?
As I am currently plotting a trans-Europe route that entails considerable work, I don't want to find myself in the position of having to do it over for another platform.
Looking forward to your response
Cheers
Roy
Hi Mark, hi all,
Pre-Visorando, I guess it was about once a month. At least it's what the FAQ says here.
Not sure I can get a more precise answer from the team.
Before writing my previous post, I asked the devs if they could tell me how it's going to work going forward.
They couldn't tell me the frequency, because right now it's a manual time-consuming process.
This is why they're working on an automated process, to be able to set up a regular and frequent update.
I'll get back to you about this as soon as I have an update.
Nice weekend to everyone!
Julien
Julien,
Great to hear about getting the email situation under control, that will surely help the community :)
As a matter of interest, how often was the route engine updated in pre-Visraondo days, and what's the expected update going forwards? Like, once a month, twice a year?
Cheers,
Mark
Hello everyone!
I apologise for not being active in the forum recently. I was waiting for a specific update from the devs to share with the community, which I just got!
First of all, regarding the support issue I wrote about earlier this month:
I've been busy since and have now sent back every answer to an email, that had been written by the team before I joined, but had never been received by the Plotaroute users.
Second, about the expected timeline to get the Plotaroute engine to Visorando:
I can’t give you an answer on this. The devs are actively working on every aspect of this massive change for Plotaroute and Visorando. I'll be sharing news as it happens.
Last but not least, regarding the route engine updates, I’ve answered several emails on that exact topic and understand how important it is for OSM maps to be up to date.
I’m happy to share that the devs just informed me that they successfully updated the route engine yesterday!
Have a great day!
Julien
Hi, Julien.
Thanks for all the updates! It's nice to know there's still some energy behind plotaroute.
> We also acknowledge that the monthly route engine updates have been less frequent than before; However, we plan to change that. Expect more updates in the future, which will be beneficial for both Plotaroute and Visorando.
This as much as anything else has left the site feeling somewhat abandoned. Could you please share when you think we're likely to see an update?

Julien,
Clear to me.
What is the expected timeline before V becomes the new PR?
Regards,
Mark
