Hi Robert,
I haven't encountered this before, but because it only happens when you're logged in, it made me think of account-specific settings.
If you click on your name in the top right corner of the website and select "My Settings", you have a "Line transparency" setting. My guess is that yours is currently set to 100%.
If that is the case, change the setting to a lower number, and the lines should appear again when you're logged in.

When I am signed in, the route line does not display at all in any map type. Distance and direction markers are shown but no line. If I sign out then the route line does display. This started happening about a week ago in Chrome and Safari.
