This one is aimed at either south or North winds, as it has been modified slightly and reversed.
Which is even better, if the finish is through CP, as there is marvellous protection from North winds.
ideally, as it is
However, winter of 24, both Rocky lane and Holley well lane are atrocious hence, this version is via Aldersey & one of 2 changes over the original, the other being cutting out the awful lane to Shotlach ( frog lane and for another mile pluss in to Fenners lane. It’s best to avoid that whole strech all the way to Shotlach as the village gets really mucky as well. Saughons lane is such a good alternative as well.

The reason this route has to be anti-clockwise, is that from Manorwood cafe all the way to beyond lower Wych, it is virtually all up hill. This means that southerly winds on a clockwise route are rediculous, as I discovered and left my legs dead for the return leg. However Anti-clockwise is much easy as the first 15 miles out are virtually flat, so just the headwind to deal with, but the return is really quick with down hill all the way.
There is crosswinds out to the turn to Higher Wytch.
This route is a slightly longer version of my favourite shorter one to Lower Wych.
The cafe stop on this anti-clockwise version would be Firestation cafe in Malpas.
This route is even good after bad weather. The Tilston to Malpas main drag doesn’t flood anymore. The lanes to Lower Wytch are also good-ish The strech to Threapwood can get a few small floods, but the rest is pretty good, although the route through CP can be iffy, in which case take the Aldersey / Barton route,

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
