Wicklow Hospice 10km Route 2026
The start of the 10km race will be from the Tree Top Tower (walk past Avondale House to reach the start - signage will be in place). Runners must meet in Race Reception and will be led to the start point at 8.55am. Please don't make your way ahead of time to the start as you will imped the half marathon race star.
From the starting line runners will travel out the main Avondale Avenue and TURN LEFT onto the Road, before almost immediately making their way onto the RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE ROAD. Please note that roads are not closed to traffic so run no more than 2 abreast and be mindful of vehicles. Runners are asked to keep on the Right Hand Side of the Road on this section of the route.
At the Rathdrum Town roundabout runners will TURN RIGHT and continue to run on the RIGHT until the entrance to Avondale. On the final approach to Avondale as you reach the gates you will be directed by stewards to cross RIGHT into the park. An Gardai will be there to manage traffic safety.
When re-entering the Avondale Avenue / Main Park Entrance, runners are asked to keep LEFT and continuing into the Park for the forest loop.
Orange flags will mark the route within the forest and stewards will be directing you at key points of the route.
Having completed the forest loop and on the final approach to the finish line, runners will pass the Tower and Avondale House and will then finish by turning RIGHT under the Courtyard Archway. Please exit through the rear of the Courtyard and not back under the Archway, or your chip will be reactivated and your time will not be accurate.
Junctions are manned by An Garda Siochana, Civil Defense vehicles and Event Volunteers. Please be kind to our volunteers and fellow participants.
A water station is located in the centre of the course between the Tower and Avondale House, on both sides of the path. You will reach this point after about 6km and again at 9.5km so if you require additional water please bring it along on your person. There is an additional water station at the finish line.
