No route from Bath without some steep hills. The route can be accessed from Lyncombe Hill up to the Two Tunnels cycle path or the less steep approach from the start of the Two Tunnels cycle path (see red loop). Although there are some steep hills on the route they are all on quiet roads so walking if necessary is not intimidating. The only busier road is from Paulton to Hallatrow for 1 mile but there is a reasonable pavement if necessary. All on tarmac surfaces.

N.B. the total ascent profile on here is incorrect as it does not recognise the tunnels under the hills.

It may be a couple of mile shorter to go via Englishcombe but this route avoids the traffic and the longer climb over there.

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
