Mannlsteig en Schustersteig zijn klettersteigen categorie B, dus klettersteigspullen mee. Zorg dat rugzak smal en niet te groot is, er zijn smalle doorgangen waar je met grote rugzak niet door past en te veel gewicht op je rug maakt het gevaarlijk(er).
Route gaat ook naar het Kehlsteinhaus, ofwel Adelaarsnest, voormalig buitenverblijf van Hitler. Is erg toeristisch en niet noodzakelijk, maar restaurantpauze is ook welkom. Route is 2,1 km korter en 120 hoogtemeters minder als je dat lusje niet doet.
