Langs Brinken En Essen (Roden)
Waar in Nederland struikel je over brinkdorpen? Juist, in Drenthe! En deze route blinkt uit in ‘brinkdorpdichtheid’. Maar liefst 5x fiets je door dorpjes waar huizen en boerderijen rondom een centraal plein (de brink) liggen. Vroeger lag pal naast het dorp altijd een groot stuk akkerland, de es. Vandaar dat deze plaatsjes ook wel esdorpen worden genoemd. De start is, hoe kan het anders, op de Brink in Roden. Veel mountainbikers kennen deze straat als de start- en finishplek van de Drenthe200, een 200 km lange MTB-marathon die ieder jaar in december wordt gehouden. Vanaf hier slaat de route meteen de juiste toon aan. Via klinkerweggetjes en asfaltstroken rijg je de andere brinkdorpjes aaneen (Norg, Zeijen, Tynaarlo en Vries). Onderweg is het genieten geblazen van rust, ruimte én boszicht. Na Vries volgen een paar lange rechte stukken naar vliegveld Eelde. Na Paterswolde en Peize komt Roden alweer in zicht. Na ruim 56 km trappen heb je wel een terrasje verdiend. Proost!
