Kasteel Cannenburch & Paleis Het Loo
Dit kasteel in Vaassen is in de 18e eeuw gebouwd op de ruïne van een middeleeuwse burcht in opdracht van de Gelderse veldmaarschalk Maarten van Rossem. Binnen kun je een grote collectie porselein, schilderijen en meubels bewonderen. Een wandeling in het prachtige park rondom het kasteel trakteert je op vele waterpartijen en de Cannenburgh's molen.
De tuinen van Paleis Het Loo zijn ook zeker niet te versmaden. Het paleis wordt ook wel het 'Versailles van Nederland' genoemd en heeft een rijke geschiedenis.
De route laat je kennismaken met het koninklijke Veluwse landschap, met veel bos en weidse heidevelden. Een deel voert over het Kroondomein 't Loo, dat al eeuwenlang in bezit is van de koninklijke familie van Nederland.
Een verborgen koninklijk tintje op deze route is De Kathedraal, een kunstwerk bestaande uit veertig bronzen boomstronken midden in het bos. Het werk werd geschonken aan toenmalig koningin Beatrix voor haar 60e verjaardag en staat symbool voor de warme band tussen de Oranjes en het bos. Maar let goed op, want het lijken net echte boomstronken!
Let op: Een groot gedeelte van Kroondomein 't Loo, het kerngebied, is geopend van 25 december tot 14 september. Dit geldt ook voor de parkeerplaatsen.
