10.6 Miles | Alderson → Fort Spring

Stage 1 of The Greenbrier 20 begins at the gates of Alderson Memorial Field, home to the first athletic field in Greenbrier County with lights.

From the starting line, racers climb through and around Alderson City Park before descending back into town and onto Maple Avenue, Alderson's main artery.

Riders will pass the Alderson Big Wheel before crossing Alderson's "New" Bridge into the historic side of town. From there, the course loops through historic Alderson, crosses the Old Bridge, and heads toward Alderson Mini Park.

Leaving town, racers turn onto Route 63 for a fast, mostly flat run toward Fort Spring Pike and the Stage 1 finish.

Waiting there are the kayaks.

STAGE 1 — BIKE: 10.6 Miles

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
