Hi Richard,
No issues on my end. I plotted a route, saved it and waited. I went on my Visorando account some time later, and the route was synced without having to click on "Try Visorando for free".
However, it wasn't visible on the app. By tapping the "sync arrows" under "Menu > My routes", the route appeared.
Could you give it another go?
Please plot a route, save it and leave it for an hour or two. Log into you Visorando account and see if it appears in your routes.
If it's still not working for you, let me know, and I'll report the bug.
All the best,
Julien
Hi Richard,
Apologies for missing your post. I do monitor the forum, but from time to time I miss some posts.
Since writing my previous post, I haven't tested the auto-sync feature.
I have just plotted and saved a route to test it.
I'll share my findings with the team.
About the routes not showing on the app, this shouldn't require deleting and installing the app again.
If a route is visible on the website, synchronising your routes on the app should update the list.
I'll also test this aspect and get back to you.
Kind regards,
Julien
Hi, are staff still monitoring this forum? I posted my question below on 6th March but, alas, no reply.
Hi Julien, hope you're well.
"1. It is no longer necessary to click on "Link to Visorando" to synchronise routes again. This was a bug and has been fixed. Routes now automatically sync every hour with Visorando, once the accounts are linked."
Is this still true? I created two new routes in Plotaroute and they didn't show up on Visornado. I waited and waited, tried logging out and in of both Plotaroute and Visornado but they stubbornly refused to show up in Visornado.
Eventualy I clicked the "Link to Visorando" button within Plotaroute and it opened up Visorando in new new web browser tab, and the two routes were now visible.
So, going forward, should i always click this button to get routes copied across from Plotaroute to Visorando and/or is there a bug that need fixing?
As an aside, after these two routes showed on on Visorando web, they still didn't show up in the visorando app. Refreshing and loging out/in didn't help. Eventaully I reinstalled the app and all was fine.
Hi everyone,
I recently talked with a dev about syncing routes between Plotaroute and Visorando, and I want to share the following information:
1. It is no longer necessary to click on "Link to Visorando" to synchronise routes again. This was a bug and has been fixed. Routes now automatically sync every hour with Visorando, once the accounts are linked.
2. If routes get edited on Plotaroute, this will get synced with Visorando. However, if routes get edited on Visorando, further edits on Plotaroute will no longer be synced with Visorando.
The reason behind this is the following: Routes can be published on Visorando, following an editorial guideline. If a route gets edited on Visorando to be published, we want to avoid this route getting replaced by the unedited version on Plotaroute.
So far, very few routes from Plotaroute users have been published on Visorando, but I still wanted to share this information.
3. The "Link to Visorando" button now says "Try Visorando for free". This might change again, but the reason behind this is that we got a lot of feedback saying it wasn't clear enough that linking the Plotaroute account to Visorando was free of charge. It now says so on the button, and the first time you link your account with Visorando, a pop-up also says so on the Visorando website (this was already the case).
As a reminder: if you're a premium user on Plotaroute, linking your account to Visorando also gives you access to Visorando Premium features.
I hope this helps to better understand how the link works.
All the best,
Julien
Thanks for testing this Richard!
Keeping routes updated is indeed very important. =)
For completeness, I did wonder if already synced routes (i.e. exisiting in Plotaroute and Visorando) were resynced when edited in Plotaroute. The answer is, thankfully, yes they are!
So, if a route exisits in Plotaroute and Visorando and changes are made to it from within Plotaroute, once the 'Link to Visorando' button is pressed, said changes are transferred to Visornado. Fantastic!
Thanks Julien, that's really helpful. You've answered all my questions, and more.
Really useeful information - thank you.
Good info, thanks!
Hi Richard!
From my understanding, you are correct: routes do not sync automatically.
The sync process gets launched every time you click on "Link to Visorando".
The first time it creates the link and the next times it simply synchronises the routes to Visorando.
I have just tested this, and when the Visorando page opened, the test route I created on Plotaroute did not appear.
Refreshing the page made the route appear at the top of my "All my walks" page. Like you said in your second post, logging out isn't required.
Depending on how many routes need to be synchronised and how big they are, I guess this might take a few moments or several refresh actions.
Also, deleting routes from Plotaroute does not appear to delete them from Visorando if they were synced previously and may require deleting them on Visorando as well.
Routes created on Visorando are not synced with Plotaroute. The link only works one way.
Accessing a Visorando route on Plotaroute would need a download/upload on your part.
The link between the Premium account on Plotaroute and the one on Visorando is also one way.
Therefore, if you use Plotaroute and Visorando, please make sure to renew your Plotaroute subscription and the Premium access to Visorando will simply be extended as well.
All the best,
Julien
