Hi,
Lately quite often when I move the map or zoom in the OSM map tiles don't show (grey square) or refresh. Sometimes I have to wait minutes before the tile is rendered.
Is this a problem in Plotaroute or OSM? On openstreetmap.org I the map tiles update instantly.
Thanks for any insight.
Regards, Winfried
Hi Winfried,
Thanks for bringing this up.
Does this happen on any zoom level or a specific one?
I have just tried replicating this issue and I might have stumbled upon the problem you're talking about.
It seems to happen if I'm at a 100m/500ft (scale on the bottom left of the map) or even further zoomed in.
Zooming out and back in seems to help, but doesn't quite fix it.
I'll report this to the devs right away.
Please let me know if your issue is the same or if it's something else.
Kind regards,
Julien
Hi Julien,
Today the map updates work perfectly but yes the problem was most prominent when zoomed in.
Thanks for the quick answer, Winfried.
I've asked the devs to check this out.
I'll update this post with any news I get.
Regards,
Julien
Hi Winfried,
The devs have looked into it and weren't able to replicate the issue.
Because it seemed to be better the day after you wrote your post, they're thinking this might be linked to some updates which run from time to time on our servers.
So this might be a momentary issue, more than a bug per se.
If this happens again, please let me know, and I'll ask them to look into it again.
Kind regards,
Julien
Hi Julien,
Tonight when I started plotting a route everything was smooth. About 20 minutes later the map tile updates were getting slow again. For the last 5 minutes I have basically not been able to get *any* tile updates so I have to stop for tonight.
I hope this can be resolved because Plotaroute is my favourite route editor.
Regards,
Winfried

Hi Winfried,
I'm verry sorry for the late reply. I wasn't available last week.
Does this still happen to you?
I'm curious, because I have no other messages about this: no other forum posts and nothing on the help desk.
Because of this a general issue seems unlikely, and I'm wondering if there is something else than the server load to investigate.
Could you get in touch with me via the help desk and send me the screenshot you wanted to share.
This way we can exchange messages directly and hopefully get to the bottom of this issue.
Kind regards,
Julien
Hi Julien,
Strange phenomenon... I was already wondering why nobody else was complaining on the forum...
And yes, it still happens quite often. At other moments everything is working normally or at least acceptable.
I am connected to the internet via a glasfibre 100 mbit/s connection so that cannot be the problem. And I have tried several different computers and browsers, all same effect.
When the performance goes down again I will try to make a short screen recording and contact you via the help desk link below.
Thanks for looking into this.
Regards,
Winfried
