This is a moderately easy walk from Winscar Reservoir along the Trans Pennine Trail from Dunford Bridge to the hamlet of Soughley, returning to the start via Carlecotes and Townhead. Due to construction work along the Trans Pennine Trail there is currently a diversion in place along well made paths, but it does mean that the footpath from Carlecotes to Townhead is closed so the return route involves more road walking along Brook Hill Lane than the original route.
There are a few stiles but all are in good condition with stable landing places. There is one uphill section with ample stopping places to admire the views.
