Care should be taken at the road junctions near the war memorial in Alnwick and riders should regroup after navigating this junction.

On the way to and leaving Ingram the route requires riding on a short section of the A167, riders should regroup before and after riding this section. Depending on the traffic conditions it may be safer to split into smaller groups.

On the descents between Roddam and Ingram the road surface is uneven with potholes and grave so care should be taken.

The alternative route from Ingram Vally involves crossing a foot bridge, riders should dismount on the foot bridge.

It is strongly advised to use the footbridge to cross the river before Abberwick. The ford is always slippy and is very dangerous if there has been any rainfall.

Descending Clayport bank into Alnwick the route turns right near the bottom of the decent, simultaneously signalling and breaking for this turning can be difficult so good road positioning should be used to make your intentions clear.

    CALCULATE CALORIES

    About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
