    Hi everyone!

After spending some time on this today, I have some news to share:

All users facing this issue (me included), are using iOS 18.5, which came out just a couple of days before I got the first support message about this.
The dev who isn't facing this issue is still using 18.1.1.
I have tried on another iPhone, which hasn't been updated to 18.5 yet and downloading through the web app works as it used to.

I've looked up known issues since 18.5, and there are a couple relating to downloads, but none that match 100%
I've signed up as a beta tester to access the 18.6 update, but sadly, the issue is still there.

I will let the devs know about my findings and hope that they'll be able to fix this soon.

Until then, using the website instead of the web app is the only workaround.

    All the best,
    Julien

    Hi Carl!

Thanks for getting back to me.
Your issue is indeed the same; it only occurs on the web app on iOS.

From what I understand, the web app uses the browser settings, so if the browser can download files, so should the web app.
I've also tried turning all kinds of settings off and on again, but to no avail.

I'll report back as soon as I have something new on this.

    All the best,
    Julien

    Hi Julien,

Thank for the fast response. Maybe below info might help to locate the issue:

    1) everything works on my phone if I go to safari, next to 'Plotaroute website', log in and try to download a route.

    2) it does NOT work on my phone if I go through the app. I can ask for `download` and next the screen turns white.

Might this be related that the app maybe does not have the permission to download a file on my phone and therefore `freezes`?

If so, any idea where this setting might be?

FYI: IOS Version is 18.5 with Iphone 15 Pro with 256 GB and I have sufficient free memory

    Hi everyone,

After my previous post this morning, I talked it over with the devs, and we did some new tests.
Until now, every iPhone I tried this on led to the same result, but one of the devs didn't get the same issue.

The devs will keep looking at it, but this seems to indicate that the issue might be connected to a setting or specific iOS version or iPhone model.
Could you tell me your iOS Version and Model Name in your iPhone settings?

I'll also send this request to the users who got in touch through the support. Maybe this will narrow down where this issue comes from.

    All the best,
    Julien

    Hi Carl!

Just making sure we're on the same page:
You say "Dowload GPX does not work with Safari on my Ios phone".
Do you mean with the web app or also on the website?

I'm asking because so far the issue has only arisen on the web app. I just tested it again, and downloading with Safari on the website works fine.
Using Safari or any other browser on iOS works fine. Only the web app doesn't allow downloading routes.
This web app download issue is specific to iOS, as downloading routes on the web app still works on Android.

When this issue was raised, I looked up all I could online and also tested different settings, but nothing worked.
I've sent this to the devs, and so far they haven't found a fix.

    All the best,
    Julien

Hi Julien, I face the same problem. Dowload GPX does not work with Safari on my Ios phone; You get to the download page and when you press `download this route`, the screen turns white and system seems to freeze.

When using Chrome on the same phone without changing any setting, this works.

So I have a workaround but is not very practical.

Maybe a setting on Safari although I didnt change anything? This issue popped up a few weeks ago. Any idea what this might be?

    Hi Nigel!

I'm sorry to say that so far I have nothing new to share on this.
I'll bump up the bug report.

    All the best,
    Julien

No posts about it for a few weeks but this is still an issue for me - anyone had any update from support? ☹️

Yes works fine using a browser (firefox) on the same phone. Interesting via the browser you get a prompt to confirm download. The prompt is displayed over the download screen at the same point it hangs in the app.

I was just about to report that the file downloads fine from the website on an iPhone!

    Hi!

This issue has been raised via the support as well and I have sent it to the devs.

This only happens on the iOS web app and right now the workaround is to download the GPX through the website instead of the web app.

I'll update this topic as soon as I have news from the devs.

    Best regards,

    Julien

I have used the Plotaroute app for years to download a route and send to my Suunto App to upload to a watch. The plotaroute download GPX file appears to have stopped working. It starts the process but freezes before the download starts. Any ideas?
