    Hi,

Can't work out how to incorporate image from my PC to this forum.

I can see image button but how do I use it?

I copy/paste directly interest a post, but sometimes it won't accept a "large" image. It's a bit clunky

    Hi!

Thanks for the help, Mark. :)

This is actually something I wanted to talk to you about.

In a previous topic, you talked about this image size issue, and we looked into it recently with Arnaud.
He wanted to change the max image size one can paste to a post, but the issue is that the maximum post size is 100Ko, and from what I understand, it is difficult to increase.

So, for now, the only reliable solution is to use third-party websites to publish a link rather than a picture.
We did not remove the copy/paste option, but depending on the size of the post, it might not work.

I'm sorry we weren't able to find a solution for this issue.

    All the best,
    Julien

    Julien,

    Thanks for the feedback.

    Even a 300 x 358 pixel screengrab is 132kb. If I choose a high compression, a 600 x 800 below the 100kb. Still does not copy/paste.

    Hi Mark,

    Thanks for your additional feedback.

I haven't had any issues with all the recent screengrabs I posted, but I tend to keep them quite small.

In this topic, I was able to add two screenshots for the F12 console, in case they were needed.

I just tested copying a 128 KB image (679x468) from the Snipping Tool, and it worked. However, copy/pasting that same image from the Media viewer didn't work.

I'm not sure the team will be able to change anything, but I'll bring this up again.

    Best regards,
    Julien

    Julien,

Yes, I noticed, which triggered my response.

Over the years, I have had varying success; as you know, you will have seen screengrabs I've put up for other when advising.

I'll bear in mind the Snipping Tool tip.

    Hi Mark,

I talked this over with the devs yesterday, and I'm sorry to say I was mistaken.
When I tested the snipping tool workaround, I pasted the screen grab, but didn't try submitting the post. Tested this again, with submitting and the screen grab is too big.

So sadly, there is nothing new on this issue: using small images should be possible, but in any case where submitting the post isn't possible, the solution is to host the image elsewhere and to copy the link here.

I have asked the devs how to use the "image" icon: in the "Source" line, you need to copy the information you get when selecting "Copy image address" for an image found online.
This is another way of posting the link to the URL of the image.

    I hope this helps,
    Julien

    Julien,

    Thanks for the update.

In a Forum such as this, it is incredibly helpful to allow screenshots. It's a shame that such a simple process is not really available here.

    Regards,

    Mark

    Hi Mark,

I agree that posting screenshots is really helpful. It would also make my support work easier, instead of asking to send the pictures via the help desk.

I'll bring this topic up again in the future, but for now, we'll have to limit the screenshots to small ones.

    All the best,
    Julien

Strange. That's a 1010 x 268 pixel image grabbed from the screen, posted OK. I could try that tomorrrow and it may well not work. That's been my experience.
