Hi, when plotting a route for cycling it is useful to drop into street view now and again. Would it be possible to include the standard map view in the bottom corner (go to google maps street view. In bottom left corner there is small normal map view with the little man), best way i can describe it.

Its really helpful for direction purposes.

Once again thanks for a brilliant site that is continually improving

Thanks for the suggestion Mark.  I'm not 100% sure what you nean though...are you saying you would like to see a small street map in the bottom left  corner of the screen when you go into Street View?

Yes it would be good. That way you can easily follow a street in the correct direction when planning routes. At present once you drop the "man" onto the street map you have no idea which way he is facing. If you duplicate on google maps you will see what I mean. Hope this helps explain more

    +27!

I plan a great number of european routes and Streetview plays a an extemely important part. It gives me an idea of traffic, surface and where our support trucks can pull over.

Initially I still have to use use Google maps as I need to see both the map and Streetview at the same time. This is what Mark is saying.

Actually John, you could go one better.

One the original Google maps you could split screen top and bottom map and SV AND the position of the map Synced with Streetview. They also superimposed a trace of your route on Streetview. That was soooo useful, so Google "fixed" it!

I do believe it also allowed to break the Streetview out onto a seperate window, very useful if you are running multiple monitors.

Plotaroute THE BEST EDITOR I have ever used, better than Bikeroutetoaster which was king at one point. Thank you.

    Blimey.....

Google maps has brought the split screen back. I was working with PAR and GM side by side (with 2 monitors) on some spanish routes last night, very powrerful combination
