This route begins on Ducie Street, Manchester City Center.
It carries on for several miles along the Ashton Canal before turning off near Droylsden where it heads for Fairfield and the long winding old railway line cycle/footpath. Getting off in Fallowfield after meandering for some time, the route heads virtually straight for several miles through Curry Mile and parts of Oxford Road before cutting off to make the final approach back into the center.

This route aims to take advantage of both the canal and the Fairfield/Fallowfield loop, both scenic in the mass expanse that is Manchester, and all in the same route.

    Please note:
Some of the route due to the location may not be well lit at night and so plan ahead, particularly in the Autumn/Winter when the sun sets earlier. This applies to a lot of the canal pathway, particularly as you leave the central parts where most is adequately lit but out of city it is not, and the Fairfield/Fallowfield foot/cycle path that is not lit in all places and due to heavy vegetation and lots of big thick trees surrounding much of the pathway, will be darker as a result.

Great route for running and due to it's simplicity and relatively flat and straight duration, makes for an excellent long run!

    CALCULATE CALORIES

    About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
