Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.
When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.
Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.

John Martin Hub might be a problem on days when its not warm enough to sit outside...
About half a dozen seats inaide.

John Curtin Medium Fast Group - was a good tight group of similar ability maintaining a ride av of approx 18mph. The route was good with some little climbs & fast decents. The Hub, luckily was empty on our arrival & we were able to sit outside in the sun. If another group was there first it would have been a problem! The route back was short so 3 of us extended the ride from Whitwell by circumnavigating Stevenage - as you do...... 9/10 for route & empty cafe & 10/10 for the weather!

Jonathan Sewell Agreed Roger Bamberough, whilst I am now knackered, some hillier routes from time to time are definitely a good thing. Plus glorious sunshine and some fantastic views. Whilst we were strung out at times, I hope that we were looking out for each other and no one felt abandoned.

Route - some great lanes, challenging climbs and fast descents - good to travel west for a change.
Hub Cafe - we turned up as medium fast were finishing so we jumped into their seats out in the sun. Quick service, excellent sausage roll and their counter has moved to back of cafe which works well.
Enjoyable ride - recommend going out that way more often.
