Lavister-adventurous Hilly Ride To Chocks Away

This one is meant to be different and an intriguing moderately hilly local tour from Lavister to Northop and on to Chocks Away diner ( big cafe and plenty of out door space) lots or short hills.
This means you chop and change direction a fair bit in order to get around the crappier Large rural areas, whilst also taking in the smaller villages.
There is only one cycle path stretch on this route (Dobshill - ‘Old Warren’ and a fab Long descent), in order to cross over the A55 and avoid the usual double roundabout on the A road around Broughton. Good little bridge across the A55, which you could miss and is on the corner of the main road
Chocks Away is a good cafe/ diner, for large groups and great choice of food ( breakfast all day as well )The entrance is via back gate of BAE, just before you ride over the railway line you. The makes a change and a nice simple flat run to Lavister from there.
The 1st 16 miles of this route are fab and virtually all up hill. The only challenge is the climb off the B5123 short steap hill around 17 miles, after turning right and after turning off the B5123

Originally this route went north on the A road to pick up the short country lane and link to B5123, however, it is a brute and no good if lane is damp ( most of the time) at 20% hence, the route now drops south and takes in a 1/2 mile stretch of the B5123. Total assent and distance are still the same and a great ride

I intend plot another route, in order to make the ultimate fab route, by using the 1st 16 miles of this one and then going anticlockwise back to Lavister. This would avoid the Aroad and the 2 short very steap hills, which some find to tough.
B5123

CALCULATE CALORIES

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
