This is aimed at a short ‘no stop’ ride. Specifically aimed at South East winds in clockwise direction, but also good for north west winds in the other direction .
The start is hilly, so the SE don’t really effect that bad, although the first 3 miles from home will feel heavy, once up to Harthill ( the easy way) then it gets a lot better from wind perspective, but a lot of uphill stuff in the first 10 miles.
Possibly a better route for NW winds as The southerly bits are open and capture the wind, where as the northerly legs have good hedge row cover, which is why it is tricked up a bit around Bickerton to take advantage in the best way. These lanes are also good, although not a winter route, unless on the Whyte. My favourite lane through Bickerton can get very gravelly & mucky in winter, but amazingly well protected from any wind.
Even the leg north from Malpas is good, as the bit through Malpas is up hill ,but protected fairly well and then it is fast down hill to the right.
the last couple of miles are up through Carden park to hide from the easterly wind and provides great protection and also means the last 2 miles are fast with the wind

    CALCULATE CALORIES

    About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
