This is hilly route ( all in the 2nd half) so need the cafe stop at Rose farm. However, this route is good for North Westerly winds, as there is good protection from hedgerows heading up from Holt & then it is with the wind from Waverton to Rose farm cafe. Then down hill to Tarpoley & cross tailwind to Beaston. Then good shelter from Peckforton ridge on the gentle climb through to Bickerton and then still pretty good cover as we turn NW up to Brown Knowl, unless unlucky and wind is exactly NNW, but as it is a good climb and slow, it really isn’t an issue. Then it is down hill to home, once over Harthill.
The lanes are pretty good, bit iffy from Rose farm to Tarpoley and the strech behind Peckforton ridge, although they have repaired a lot of the bad bits as of late 2022.
These lanes are not normally trashed by tractor mud and hopefully Peckforton lane won’t flood, since the repairs🤞
This route is also easy to shorten with 3 simple variations. So if not good weather etc, I can bail out at Beaston, straight home for 33 miles or carry on and or bail out at Bickerton and head straight home over Harthill for 38 miles. The shortest option is good for a no cafe stop and pretty flat route.

CALCULATE CALORIES

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
