    WRITTEN DIRECTIONS:
Navigate to Shelving Rock Rd. There are multiple parking lots near the start of a trail on the left side of the road, the closest being #8. This trail leads down near the lake and is the closest point to Black Mountain Point, which should be easily accessible to launch in the water. Pearl Point itself is private property (Knapp estate), and there is a gate that blocks access to the rest of Shelving Rock Rd. From parking lot #8, it is approx. 500ft to the water, and the kayaks would have to be carried from the lot to the water.

From the launch site, travel NNW along the coast until the corridor formed by Fourteen Mile Island is reached (0.4km). Follow the path ENE for about 300m, and continue NE across the bay until Ranger Island is due N (1.0km). Head straight N through the open waters for 350m until Ranger Island (1.4k). Following the natural arc of the islands, move along the coast of each, Ranger→Juanita NNE 200m (1.6km), NE Juanita→Uncas 275m (2.0km). Continue along the NW coast of Uncas Island, passing between Uncas on right and Sunny + Brush Islands on left for 225m (2.3km). Go across the strait between Uncas and Big Burnt Islands and again follow the N coast of Big Burnt Island (N of which, the Gourd Islands can be spotted) (2.8km). Travel NE to the NE coast of Fork Island after 220m, and follow the path between Fork and Little Harbor Islands for another 300m (3.4km). Bend around the edge of Fork Island, going SE to the easternmost point of Fork Island (3.5km). Going over open waters for 500m, head due E toward the penn. (4.0km). Follow the penn. ENE to Sarah Island (4.5km), and through the passage between Hazel Island to the N and Sarah Island and the coast to the S (emerging at 4.9km). Follow the coast the rest of the way, avoiding any bays that would add length. At 5.7km, Glen Island campground will be at right. Black Mountain Point will be a small penn. after 6.5km, where the trail will begin close to shore.

    CALCULATE CALORIES

    About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
