Wandelnet heeft in samenwerking met de Nederlandse
Spoorwegen een serie wandelingen van station naar
station samengesteld. Deze NS-wandelingen volgen
een deel van een Lange-Afstand-Wandelpad (LAW),
Streekpad of wandelnetwerk. Deze NS-wandeling
volgt de ‘Edelhertenroute’ die gebaseerd is op wandel-
netwerk Het Groene Woud. De route is uitgezet door
bewonersvereniging Rond Kerk en Orion uit Lennis-
heuvel. Je start bij station Boxtel en eindigt na 14,5 km
bij station Best. Laat je niet ontmoedigen door de
eerste kilometer in Boxtel. Want al snel maakt het
bedrijventerrein plaats voor bossen en landgoederen,
waaronder Landgoed Heerenbeek en De Scheeken.
Vanaf Lennisheuvel tot aan de rand van Best loop je
helemaal onverhard.
Inkorten is niet mogelijk. Na regenachtige periodes
kunnen de paden behoorlijk drassig of extreem
modderig zijn. Honden zijn aangelijnd toegestaan,
maar in het edelhertengebied verboden; zie
alternatieve route op kaart en in de beschrijving. Veel
wandelplezier!
Heen- en terugreis
Station Boxtel (begin van de route) is te bereiken vanaf
's-Hertogenbosch (2x per uur), Eindhoven (4x per uur)
en Tilburg (2x per uur).
Station Best (eindpunt van de route) ligt op de lijn
's-Hertogenbosch (Boxtel) en Eindhoven. Er vertrekt
2x per uur een trein naar ’s-Hertogenbosch, 4x naar
Boxtel en 4x naar Eindhoven.
