    Inleiding
    Wandelnet heeft in samenwerking met de Nederlandse
    Spoorwegen een serie wandelingen van station naar
    station samengesteld. NS-wandelingen volgen meestal
    een deel van een Lange- Afstand-Wandelpad (LAW),
    Streekpad of andere gemarkeerde route. Deze NS-
    wandeling, een initiatief van Visit Zuid-Limburg, volgt
    het Krijtlandpad (Streekpad 7, een ronde van 90 km
    door Zuid-Limburg).
    Je begint op station Maastricht en eindigt na 13 km in
    Valkenburg aan de Geul. Je verlaat de stad via de
    Groene Loper, een groen recreatief lint waaronder het
    autoverkeer van de A2 raast. Via bossen, akkers, een
    oude mergelgroeve en het Geuldal loop je naar
    Valkenburg aan de Geul, in 2019 uitgeroepen tot
    wandelgemeente van het jaar. Strijk neer op een
    terras, slenter door de oude straatjes of verleng de
    route met 4 km (totaal 17 km) naar station Schin op
    Geul, via de Geul door een bosrijk dalletje.
