Groenlo - Ruurlo
Startpunt Marveld Recreatie
Fiets naar de Oude Winterswijkseweg. Ga hier rechtsaf en volg de bordjes naar knooppunt 51. Volg deze route via de knooppuntenbordjes.
Vestingstad Groenlo
Deze route voert je door de binnenstad van vestingstad Groenlo. In de 80-jarige oorlog werd bij de Slag om Grol in 1627 gevochten om het stadje Grol, de allersterkste vesting in de Nederlanden. Grol, toen al 21 jaar in bezit van de Spaanse troepen, werd door de stedendwinger Prins Frederik Hendrik veroverd in dertig dagen. Het oude vestingstadje is nog steeds voorzien van bastions en de oude stadsmuur. De gracht met het ravelijn is nog intact.
Groenlose Slinge
De laaglandbeek Groenlose Slinge ontspringt achter Winterswijk. De beek mondt uit tussen Lochem en Borculo. Door het Waterschap Rijn en IJssel is de Groenlose Slinge aangemerkt als Ecologische Verbindingszone.
Ruurlo
Het dorp Ruurlo, in de gemeente Berkeland, heeft vele landgoederen. In het dorp is enige maakindustrie, de omgeving kent veel landbouw- en veeteeltbedrijven. Verder is het dorp aantrekkelijk door het prachtige Achterhoekse coulisselandschap en de aanwezigheid van historisch erfgoed.
Museum More | Kasteel Ruurlo
Te midden van het prachtige coulisselandschap ligt Kasteel Ruurlo. Het rijksmonument is een prachtig kasteel in Gelderland en wordt omringd door een Engelse landschapstuin. In dit kasteel bevindt zich Museum More met de kunst van de koele grootmeester van neorealisme, Carel Willink. De opstelling in dit museum toont de ontwikkeling van een jonge, zoekende kunstenaar die experimenteert met abstracte kunst tot aan de schilder met een technisch perfect en raadselachtig oeuvre.
Doolhof Ruurlo
Niet ver van het Kasteel Ruurlo, langs de weg naar het Gelderlandse Hengelo, ligt Doolhof Ruurlo. Een doolhof uit 1891. Qua oppervlakte is dit het grootste doolhof van Nederland, maar door de dikke hagen van vijf meter zijn de paden minder lang dan dat ze lijken.
