Brabants Kloosterpad 1: Vught – Heeswijk-Dinther
Een verademing. Zo voelt het om deze route te fietsen. De combinatie van religieus erfgoed en natuur zorgt voor ruimte: om te kijken én te overdenken. Bijvoorbeeld wanneer je het Bossche Broek doorkruist – die bijzondere, groene voortuin van 's-Hertogenbosch. Het gebied dat ooit diende als een natuurlijke verdedigingslinie voor de stad, is vandaag de dag een waar paradijs voor weidevogels. Verderop verschijnt de Sint-Jan aan de horizon. Een indrukwekkend bouwwerk, en misschien wel de mooiste kathedraal van Nederland.
Flinke dosis frisse ademruimte
Onderweg zijn nog veel meer parels te ontdekken, groot en klein. Wat dacht je van fietsen langs het charmante, witte kanunnikenhuisje aan de voet van de Boxtelse Sint-Petrusbasiliek of even afstappen bij de Abdij van Berne in Heeswijk-Dinther voor een bezoek aan de abdijwinkel of het proeflokaal? Samen met de natuur langs deze route – de Dommel, de Essche Stroom, landgoederen Haanwijk en Coudewater – zorgen ze voor een flinke dosis frisse ademruimte. Ruimte die we net als de kloosterlingen goed kunnen gebruiken, om afstand te nemen van onze dagelijkse drukte.
