Natuurgrenspark De Groote Heide (Valkenswaard)
Dit grensoverschrijdende natuurgebied van maar liefst 6.000 hectare groot doorkruist Cranendonck, Eindhoven, Heeze-Leende, Valkenswaard, Hamont-Achel en Pelt. De fietsroute loopt door natuurreservaat De Malpie met prachtige heide, vennen, bosgebied en rivier de Dommel. Door de veelzijdigheid is dit gebied ideaal voor ontspannende wandel- en fietstochten. Leuk weetje: dankzij de ongekende schoonheid van De Malpie werd Valkenswaard in 2016 bekroond tot "Wandelgemeente van het Jaar". Dat belooft wat!
De route vervolgt zich door het Leenderbos wat bestaat uit prachtige naaldbomen. Ook wordt hier gewerkt aan het steeds meer terugbrengen van de heide. Het bos wordt bevolkt door o.a. reeën, vossen, wilde zwijnen, hazen en konijnen. Ben je een vogelliefhebber? Neem je verrekijker mee en ga op zoek naar de ijsvogel, roerdomp, wespendief en nachtzwaluw.

Deze fietsroute is tot stand gekomen in samenwerking met Staatsbosbeheer. Erik Schram, boswachter in Natuurgrenspark De Groote Heide, beveelt de route aan:
"Een beleving van de rijkdom aan Brabantse natuur, fietsend door het Leenderbos en over de Groote heide vlakbij de Belgische grens. Het Leenderbos en de Groote Heide zijn enorme gebieden, ongeveer vijfduizend voetbalvelden groot. Met name de variatie hier maakt het wat mij betreft prachtig. Na een wandeling of fietstocht kun je bij de Sint Benedictus Abdij, de Achelse Kluis, terecht voor het zelfgebrouwen en beroemde trappistenbier."
