LuibeiltwithSiân_Oct2025-Bike Option 2 Plan A

Distance 57 miles/91 km.

One possible itinerary below (assuming we can ford the Abhainn Rath) , obviously things can be switched around (e.g. head to Beinn Èibhinn first instead of Luibeilt) or left out depending on how we feel.

Day 1 - Kinlochleven to Luibeilt via Mamore Lodge. Camp at Luibeilt.
Day 2 - Visit Staoineag Bothy before climbing Beinn na Cloiche and Glas Bheinn. Option to leave tents at Luibeilt and camp there for a second night or move camp near to Staoineag Bothy to shorten Day 3.
Day 3 - Luibeilt or Staoineag Bothy to Beinn Èibhinn. Either camp near Beinn Èibhinn or cycle back as far as Loch Treig and camp there.
Day 4 - Beinn Èibhinn or Loch Treig to Kinlochleven via Creaguaineach Lodge, Loch Chiarain Bothy, Alexander Mackonochie memorial, Blackwater Dam and the Navvies Graveyard.

Notes:

Lots of bike pushing will be required, the steepest section probably being along the track between Kinlochleven and Mamore Lodge. Murray Wilkie routed to Luibeilt with his bike via An Cumhann and regretted it, he suggested an easier option would be to route in via Mamore Lodge which what I've done in our bike options. We'll clearly save lots of time on the bikes between Loch Eilde Mor and Luibeilt, and then between the Navvies Graveyard and Kinlochleven. I felt having the bikes makes it possible to have this two night stay option at Luibeilt if we want it.

When water levels are low in the Abhainn Rath it is possible to cross via the rocks in the channel near Luibeilt and via the stepping stones below Staoineag Bothy.

If water levels are high we won't be able to visit Meanach Bothy and will only be able to access Staoineag Bothy by foot south of the river.

If we can't cross any of the channels below the dam then we can get back to Kinlochleven via the track or pipeline to the north of the River Leven.
