I have this problem as well. Deathly slow loading of map - exploring possible route changes is barely possible.
Cache cleared etc.
Other map otions load much quicker than Streetmap.
What is going on.
Mon 23rd March. Also seeing very slow opening of some saved routes OSM tiles. Happens also in some of the small preview windows before opening to full screen.
Have been opening, viewing and updating a number of routes this morning, some have been fine, others incredibly slow, it made me check that my internet was still connected.
PC restarted this morning, Using Firefox 148.0.2, cache cleared, Win 11 Pro, 64 GB Ram, Fibre Broadband - checked at 157Mbps
I'm seeing the same thing - slow updating of Street Map tiles. Less of a problem with other map types.
I was using PR heavily for the last few days, planning some rides in Yorkshire. No problems with speed :)
I noticed that when the updating of the map tiles becomes (very) slow it often helps to save the route-in-progress and then click on the reload page of your web browser.
Often the map tiles update as normal again after that (at least for quite a while).
Thanks, Winfried!
So far, feedback mainly seems to point towards map tiles, so this is what we'll focus on.
I'm happy it's gotten better over the last few weeks, with the last changes the devs made. :)
Julien
Hi Julien,
The map tiles not (or very slow) loading is occurring less frequently last few weeks. This was when using the 'street map' base layer, haven't checked if the problems also occurs with the other map layers.
Thanks for looking into this,
Winfried
Hi Winfried,
Since we last spoke, we have had a new topic about slow response time on Plotaroute, which I have just updated after a team meeting.
Feel free to read my post, and hopefully, you no longer face those issues.
Kind regards,
Julien
Hi Winfried,
I'm sad to hear that you're still having this issue.
Looking forward to your screen recording and we'll look more into it then.
All the best,
Julien
Hi Julien,
Strange phenomenon... I was already wondering why nobody else was complaining on the forum...
And yes, it still happens quite often. At other moments everything is working normally or at least acceptable.
I am connected to the internet via a glasfibre 100 mbit/s connection so that cannot be the problem. And I have tried several different computers and browsers, all same effect.
When the performance goes down again I will try to make a short screen recording and contact you via the help desk link below.
Thanks for looking into this.
Regards,
Winfried
