    Hi Mark,

    Thanks for your feedback! This helps me better understand what zooming out further on OS can be useful for.

    I'll share this with the team to see if the OS map can be changed again.

    All the best,
    Julien

    Hi Julien

    In the mobile app (currently) and on the desktop, the "OS" mapping shows UK OS mapping, 1:25k and 1:50k. When zooming out further, it changes to OSM Outdoors.

    This is not good.

    The mapping should be consistent. Plus, the 1:250k and 1:000k are very useful (the former shows major roads more clearly, for instance, the latter National Parks etc).

    Hi again,

    After talking this over with the devs, they changed the label again.

    The label now says "OS + TOPO" in the pull-down menu and the selected base map box.

    This might require clearing the cache to show.

    This does not seem to be the case on the web app yet, but it will be soon.

    Thanks for your feedback on this!

    Hi everyone,

    @Mark (Harp Monk): thanks for your detailed feedback! :) I have shared this with the team to see if they want to change the label again.

    @N C, @Mark McVeigh: The devs asked me if you used to zoom out of the map for a specific reason?

    Plotting, viewing the whole route in OS on a more zoomed-out manner, etc.
    You already said that you liked to have an overview in 1:250k, but I want to make sure if there are other uses this change affects.

    Thanks,
    Julien

    Hi Plotaroute.

    I too thought that OS Maps had disappeared for Premium members until seeing Arnaud's post below. I'm relieved it's still here, because what makes Plotaroute my go-to hike-planning option is that the inbuilt OS Maps allow one to check PROW, which is hugely important near farmland on which, increasingly, footpaths are being tweaked and even blocked.

    Though it's now nice to see topography on the back of the OS Maps, the change could perhaps be clarified by:

         (a) relabelling the pull-down menu item as Topo/OS or Topo+OS, as the present Topo seems a bit loose;
         (b) reflecting any such changes in (a) consistently in the sub-labels on the pop-up Map Type page;
         (c) ensuring that the name chosen from the pull-down menu matches what appears in the "selected" window at its head;
              eg when Topo is selected from the menu, Multi Topo appears at its head.

    As things stand, the last place one would look for an OS map is under a "Topo" title ... as evidenced by my initially having thought that the OS option had been pulled ;-)

    Hi,

    Thanks for the feedback and for letting us know that the change has had a negative impact on how you use the OS map.

    I'll share this information with Arnaud and the team.

    I'll update this post as soon as they have looked into this.

    Kind regards,
    Julien

    I too would like to see the OS map when zoomed out. I'm not seeing the latest format as an improvement personally.

    It looks like only the OS 1:50k layer is available now.  Is this intentional?   (I'd still like to see 1:250k when zooming out for an overview).

    Thanks Arnaud.

    Hi Garry,

    You can now use 'Topo Maps' that include OS Maps as well as other topographic maps.

    We'll make an announcement about this improvement.

    Regards
