Hi Mark,
Thanks for the additional information.
The team made some changes to try to improve the speed of the tiles yesterday, but for some users, this led to blank maps.
To bring all the feedback together in one topic, please read and add further comments here.
Kind regards,Julien
Hi JulienIn reply to your queries of Monday 09 Mar 2026 @ 15:28:14: (a) yes, it does seem to be worst on the Street Map; (b) no, it's not always, but probably in excess of 60% in recent weeks (it was slow within the last 10 minutes). CheersMark
Hi Julie,
Does this issue have something to do with the slow tiles/website?If not, let's move to this topic.
I've checked the Garmin sync logs, and there doesn't seem to be a general issue. Please try deleting and setting the link to Garmin back up again to see if it solves the issue.
Tried and tried again to download route to my Garmin Edge, used to work fine now nothing works, does anyone use a different method to download routes that can be transferred to a Garmin Edge
Thanks for the feedback. Is this the case for all base maps?Other feedback suggests mainly the Street Map.
And also, is it always the case for you?
Thanks,
Julien
Hi Julien
Yes, the slowest thing seems to be the background maps; in particular, when zooming in, it can take quite some time for the zoomed page to refocus back into the crisp default resolution.
Cheers
Mark
Hi everyone,
We just had a team meeting to discuss the slow response on Plotaroute.
Our monitoring shows that it's way better since the last changes, but we'll keep looking into it.
To do so more efficiently, could you please tell us what exactly is slow and when exactly it happened?
Does the website open slowly? Is it slow to browse on the website?Do the map tiles load slowly? If so, which base map are you using and is it better/worse on some of them?Is the route plotting taking more time than usual?
Those details will help us narrow down which server(s) need further looking into.
Thanks for your help on this!
Have a nice weekend,Julien
+1
Hi Mark and Maryka,
Thanks for your feedback.Right now, both the website and the route planning are very fast, but the tiles of some base maps seem slow.
I've just sent a message to the devs to keep investigating.
Regards,Julien
Hi Plotaroute
First, fantastic resource, as ever.
Second, plotaroute crawling for me too (Firefox Windows 11 and Android mobile) for the last couple of weeks, on both rote planning and navigation.
Definitely still experiencing slow response time. Map tiles not loading, mostly.
Hi again,
The dev team just told me that they performed an update which should greatly improve the performance of the website.
Let us know if you're still experiencing slow response times in the next days.
Best regards,
We've gotten several messages through the help desk about this issue.Just letting you know that we are aware of it and are actively looking into it.We're sorry for the inconvenience, and as soon as there is any news on this matter, we'll update this topic.
Best regards,Julien
Response has been crawling for me for a couple of days, barely usable today. All other sites and tools working fine.
I'm sorry about this.I reported this to Antoine yesterday because it had already been the case during the day.
It's way better this morning, so I hope it'll stay that way.
https://www.plotaroute.com/ is crawling along, tonight! Mapping & Forum .... slooooooowwwwwwww
Thanks, Mark! Happy New Year to you as well. =)
Thanks! And a Happy New Year to you all!
The response seemed bsck to normal, yesterday
I hope you had a lovely Christmas.
Thanks for letting us know. This morning, everything seems fine, but I'll let the devs know that it hasn't been the last couple of days.
The last few days, PR has been very slow in respsonding, both from my phone and PC
